Digimon

This was one of my favorites. Now I know people compare it to Pokemon, well to be honest
Pokemon wasn’t for me. But I loved Digimon and I not only watched the cartoon I played the
video games and bought some of the trading cards too. I only followed Digimon for like 2 seasons
and once they changed up the cast I sorta moved on to other shows but what I did watch I really
liked.
Dragon Ball Z

Now this was a show that I never understood. I will be honest I only watched DBZ because the
network I watched it on aired DBZ right before Sailor Moon and I never missed an episode of
that. So I had to sit through the endless argument between Goku and whoever it was he had
beef with at the moment. I did like DBZ and eventually got into the show, but it took some help
from the Game Cube to do that. Mostly what I did like was the fight scenes, no matter how few
and far between the real action was. I did discover that I cared very little for the characters
or the story but the action was good enough and so was the animation I kept watching.
Ronin Warriors

I only watch the first ten or so episodes of this show and although I liked parts of it, mostly it
kinda reminded me of a cross between Power Rangers and Mortal Kombat (please don’t ask how I
made that association I was 12). I do know that the only reason I watched the show in the first
place was because a friend of mine introduced me to it and we watched it at his house. When I
was at home and away from this kid I also escaped from Ronin Warriors. I have since gone back
and re-watched the first couple of episodes and to be honest I just had a hard time getting into
it.
Voltron

Here is another one of my early anime experiences, and unlike Speed Racer, this show came on at a time I
could keep up and so I did. I used to watch Voltron ever single chance I got. Now being the only boy in a
house full of sisters it was rare I got the TV tuned into “boys” shows so again I missed out on quit a few of
these stories but I do remember that I really liked Voltron and have contemplated going back and re-
watching the entire series just to refresh my memory and relive a part of my past. I especially liked the
giant robot aspect of it and, naturally, being a fan of Voltron played a part in my interest in the Mighty
Morphin Power Rangers when I discovered that show.
Speed Racer

Now this was one of the first Anime shows I was exposed to as a kid so it
was also my first impression of the art form. With that said I did not
have cable and Speed Racer only came on early in the mornings on
Saturdays and not every week where I was so I missed too many episodes
to really get into the show. Plus at the time I was more into
Transformers and TMNT anyways. From what I do remember I did like the
action in this show and the drama but I can’t tell you any specifics
because it has been so long since I seen an episode. I do plan on watching
the movie when it comes out so I’ll go from there I suppose.

Anime/Manga
So what is Anime?

Well Anime is Japanese Animation. This page is about Anime and Manga Reviews. The purpose of this
page is to review Japanese Animation. I got into Anime when I was very young. The first anime
shows I remember watching are Speed Racer, Voltron, Ronin Warriors, and Dragon Ball Z. When I
was a kid I didn’t quit understand what it was I liked about Anime I just new that when I saw it I
liked it. As I got older I began to realize that part of it was the stories and action were so much
more intense than the American stuff, not to mention the animation was just so much cooler.

Below is a run down on all the anime I have seen in my life and what I like, or dislike, about each
one. Now please note that first off I am not a huge anime fan but I do like a lot of anime, so my list
is not comprehensive. Hell it isn’t even that big to be honest with you, and I am sure part of it is I
just forgot some stuff for whatever reason.

For more information on Anime Please hop on over to the
Wikipedia Anime article and read up on the
subject.
What about Manga?

Manga is Japanese Comic books. They are drawn in a similar art style as Anime cartoons/movies but
are in a comic book or graphic novel form. Although I am a pretty big comic book fan, I have to be
honest I have never once read a single Manga.
Then why include it in your site?

For two reasons, one just because I never read any doesn’t mean I am not interested in any. The
second reason is I want my site to be all-encompassing and to do that I figured I might as well cover
as many aspects of each media as I could. For more information on Manga please check out the
Wikipedia Manga Pages and read more about it.
TV SHOWS

Sailor Moon

It was the girls what more can I say. Yes I am a guy and although I had real world girlfriends I just somehow
got drawn to the girls on this show without even thinking about it. My favorite character and story arc was
Wicked Lady. I think that was the first time ever in a cartoon that I really cared about what was going to
happen to someone on the show. Unfortunately we moved right in the middle of my obsession to a town where
no channel available to us aired the show and I once again had to move on and put it in the past.
The Slayers

Ah the Slayers, what a show. My exposure to this show was also brief but not by any fault of my own. See I
only became exposed to it by signing up for Columbia House Anime Club and I got Slayers videos in the mail
each month along side DBZ and original movies. Well it turns out that I only signed up for the free trial so
once the bill came, the tapes stopped and I was left with only the first 2 in the series so although I got
really into this show right away I also got cheated out of watching the rest of it.
Transformers

Now this is what I am talking about. Although some would argue if TF even qualifies as Anime I include it for
several reason, the least of which being that Takara was a Japanese company and the cartoon was very anime
influenced. Even beyond that there was the tie in to Robotech and then if that isn’t enough to include it, ever
single TF series other than the original (first 4 seasons) and BW, all have been anime shows. And I have seen
them all. G1, G2, BW, BM, RID, Armada, Headmasters, Victory, Zone, Masterforce, etc, etc. I have also seen
all the movies and read most of the comics. Transformers is my show.
