Transformers
Robots In Disguise

Ladies and Gentlemen this is what you have all been waiting for, welcome to my
Transformers Pages. Yes it is true I am a massive Transfan, more than you will ever
know. I have thought about creating a sub-domain just dedicated to Transformers, I
plan on having that many pages devoted to them. For now I am just going to create a
few pages to get started and see where it goes from there.
TV SHOWS
Generation Gap?

So when you visit a Transformers fan site you immediately start wondering if the
sites staff are G1 Fans or Beast Fans. I am not ashamed to admit my loyalty lies with
the original Generation 1 Transformers line. However I have discovered in recent
years that I am now far more open to the newer stuff than I thought I would be. It's
kinda a long story the short version is I thought I had "out grown" Transformers
about a year before Beast Wars even came out so I was naturally turned off at first.
Then there was the fact I had quit collecting TF stuff somewhere in the middle of the
Generation 2 revamp of the series so when I first saw the commercials for BW, and
this is because like I said I didn't pay attention because I had gotten "too old" for
toys, anyways when I first saw the commercials I thought BW as a re-release or G2
version of the "Pretenders" line from the late 80's and never gave it a second thought.

A few years go by and I just happen to walk into a GameStop (called Software Etc at
the time) and see a Robots In Disguise Prowl action figure sitting on the shelf.
Naturally this sparks some nostalgia in the now adult me so I grab the item with out
hesitation, mistakingly thinking it is a G1 original re-release or something of the sort
and begin my quest to dig up as much on the old toys and shows as I can.

Then the more I get into what I learn is Robots In Disguise I start going back and
re-watching the old cartoons and that is when I discover what Beast Wars really was
and reluctantly gave it a chance. Now I will admit the writing wasn't bad and the
animation was good, as was the action. However good the show was, I still couldn't
hardly stand the toys. So my tolerance for Beast Wars sits with the Show for now
and as for the toys, only a few are good IMO. Beast Machines on the other hand was a
total reversal, the toys are great, the show stunk.

So I jump right back in full force without even thinking about budgeting or anything
and start buying every single RID, Armada, G1, G2 and Energon action figure I can
either find on Ebay or scrounge through the local thrift stores. My rekindled passion
for Transformers soon find me spending more money than I can afford to and forces
me to sell off my toy collection and decide to stick with the shows for now.
Dreamworks makes a Masterpeice

I don't know nor do I care about the rest of the world but I loved every second of
that movie and will wait in line to see the sequels no matter what it takes. I know it
had some flaws but it actually did a far better job capturing the essence and feel of
the Transformers than the recent Spider-Man movie could do for it's property so I
have to give it major props for that. Not to mention how many people I know who
could care less about Transformers who thought it was a good movie who would have
never given it a chance if it hadn't been for such good praise.
What is out there?

I am not going to pretend to be an all knowing expert so bear with me, these are just
the shows I know about and I am not going to go into full details on all of them.
Generation One

This is the original Marvel Produced show. I will keep the Japanese stuff separate
from this series.
Generation Two

This is the early 90's revamp of the original series, also the reason "G1" was
retconed into the name even though it never was used in the original production or
marketing of the series.
Beast Wars/Beast Machines

The prehistoric, CGI based show from the mid-90's. Interconnected with G1 story
lines.
Robots In Disguise/Car Robots

The humorous anime-style mockery of the G1 series. Some people hated it but I loved
it.
Armada/Energon/Cybertron

Now I only watched a few Armada episodes and even though I tried to keep up on the
toys clear into Cybertron I know nothing of the tv show or if it even had it's own.
Headmasters/Masterforce/Victory/Zone/BW2/BW Neo

These are the collective Transformers series that followed Generation 1 in Japan. I
have seen Headmasters and Masterforce, the others I only know by name and could be
remembering them wrong. These shows picked up where G1 Season 3 Ended and
pretended like Rebirth (US Season 4) never happened. Which is actually a good think
IMO because some of these shows really took off.
Comics
Marvel vs Dreamwave

I will keep this short and sweet. I read most of the original comics and G2 comics and
then never read another comic until The War Within by DW came out a few years ago.
Other than that I am not very knowledgeable about what went on in any of the books.
